Why I built this

I'm a software developer by trade and my hobby is playing saxophone. I spent years working on technique, scales, and repertoire while my ear lagged behind my fingers. The fix turned out to be completely unglamorous: a few minutes of focused listening practice, every single day. Here's the thing, though. The tools I tried made that hard to sustain. They were locked behind subscriptions, played synthetic beeps instead of real instruments, or buried the actual practice under menus.

So I built the trainer I wanted to use. One that opens instantly in a browser, sounds like real instruments, asks you to identify real pitches rather than just pick labels from a list, and makes daily practice feel like a game instead of a chore. Then I put it online for free, because ear training is the most learnable skill in music, and cost shouldn't be the reason anyone skips it.

What the site offers

• Interval ear training: hear the distance between notes, then name the actual pitches. Practice intervals.
• Chord recognition: pick apart triads and seventh chords, in any inversion, note by note. Practice chords.
• Note recognition: build the pitch memory that everything else rests on. Practice note recognition.
• Real instrument sounds: piano, guitar, strings, winds, and brass, with correct handling of transposing instruments, plus an arpeggio mode for players whose instruments can't play chords.
• Daily challenges and leaderboards: one shared puzzle a day to keep the habit alive. Try today's challenge or check the leaderboards.

How the site stays free

A small amount of advertising keeps the lights on. Every training mode, instrument, and difficulty level is free, and you don't need an account to play. How ads and data are handled is spelled out in the privacy policy.
